Golf Industry Guidelines to Coronavirus (COVID-19)
In these difficult times it is important to highlight the health benefits of golf as a sport that allows players to exercise outdoor in the fresh air where the risk of contracting COVID-19 is low.
All golf clubs should aim to keep their members and staff safe and well. This is a very fluid situation and we ask clubs to monitor the latest advice regularly.
Just a quick reminder that all club competitions are now back to being Qualifying events this year
this will also include the Wednesday
Morning Stableford, Saturday
morning Stableford and all Medals , cups and trophies .
Now finally after the long hard winter you can start to get your handicaps moving again for the 2020 season.
GOOD LUCK to all.
The list of worthy causes is endless and this is why it has taken so long to chose this year.
I have at last make up my mind and I'm pleased to inform you all that I have chosen
as the Captains Charity for 2020.
I trust you will all be supportive and honest when you default at the Captains Charity hole TBC
There will also be pin badges around the clubhouse for you to purchase/wear and show your support.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT ?
As we have been trialling this system now for a few months and most involved are now capable in the operation of it , we can conclude that the first phase of testing is now over and this is why we pose the above question.
Members of Eyemouth Golf Club can find out first hand from the people in the know” Scottish Golf.”
We are hosting a informal evening with some of the officers of Scottish Golf to help explain where we need to go next, as the date for the new WHS systems draws closer we need to prepare for all that comes with it.
During the evening there will be a short introduction to the new phone apps and booking systems and how they will work.
Following on we will help all attending on the evening sign up to the app if they wish
We will then run a dummy competition for all present to enter and scores, during which members of Scottish golf will be walking around checking on all and helping if required
After everyone is happy will follow an open questions session about the systems.
As a member of Eyemouth Golf Club you are welcome to attend this Free session please be aware that as these guys have to do this with every club in Scotland this will be a one of event and after this you will have to teach yourself or get help from others.
After this event we plan to use the new system for all golf bookings and competitions, scores, results etc
We hope you can join us in this new venture in golf on
FRIDAY 13th MARCH 2020 @7pm
Eyemouth Golf Club have desided that due to the popularity of the 15 months for the price of 12 over the past few months that we would continue this offer for a further three months for all new members.
we hope this may encourage a few more new members to come and enjoys the challenge that we all love.
Yes in the current market members are hard to come by and it is the members that keep the club growing ,
To this aim we the Committee are set to revive the Juniors section over the coming summer, starting in March with some school kids coming along for free coaching lessons.
To help the kids who maybe have not considered golf due to the cost we are reducing the £45.oo fee for Secondary school kids to a £3.oo fee to cover the insurance cost involved.
many of you have asked how can i help ? easy as members you can help if you see any kids out on the course please understand and perhaps stop for a minute and offer some advice on there swing etc.
We are also hoping to offer some free equipment to loan for a nominal fee yet to be set.
We will get the kids out on the course and the encouragement and response from you the members will help keep them with us for life , please remember the future of this club is not with us the Committee or the Members but with the kids who are not yet playing Golf as a sport.
After have to cancel round 8 of this years winter league a new date has now been set it will now take place next Sunday the 16th Feburary 2020.
i think we can all agree that we have been quite lucky to get to round 8 before the weather played havoc, and hope it remains like that for the remains 3 rounds as the fight for top spot heats up.
All members please take note that the we have cancelled round 8 of this years Winter League the game was due to be played Sunday 9th Feburary Due to adverse weather conditions and with the forecast not due to improve over the coming days ,we can not be responsible for asking members to travel against official advice. Whilst I know you are all keen to get out there in the morning and a little rain will not stop you the winter league is about fun and having a laugh and I'm sure no one will have either tomorrow subject to the wind that is forecast.
A new date is being looked at for round 8 and will be confirmed Mon afternoon, I trust all members will be understanding and supportive in this course of action.
We are about to enter a period of very unsettled weather over the next few days. Storm Ciara will arrive late on Saturday and we can expect disruptive weather conditions for the next four days. The Met Office have issued a series of Yellow Be Aware weather warnings for the Scottish Borders area from Saturday right through until Tuesday for Wind/Rain and then Snow for high ground at the beginning of the week.
Saturday and Sunday
We can expect gale force winds of 50-60mph over both days and on Sunday for a period of time the winds will get stronger with frequent gusts up to 70mph this will be accompanied by prolonged heavy driving rain. On Sunday there is a low risk of minor flooding impacts from rivers and small watercourses. You can expect delays and difficult driving conditions on all roads with standing water and spray and strong winds especially for high sided vehicles.
Monday and Tuesday
Much colder air moves in and the strong winds remain with gusts still in excess of 50mph and this time we can expect snow with falls of 1-3cm above 150m and 5-10cm on ground above 300m. The strong winds could cause blizzard conditions and drifting of snow on exposed roads. These will be showers so the exact areas of the Borders that will be impacted are hard to predict at this time.
For full details of all the warnings please follow this link to the Met Office website
Keep an eye on local and national weather forecasts over the weekend as there is a chance that some of these weather warnings may be amended
In the interests of your own safety we would strongly advise anyone planning to play golf this weekend to check it is safe to do so before setting off.

Thanks and stay safe
Some of you will be aware of the work around the course to mend and construct new pathways for the golfers.
we would ask that during this period of construction , all golfers avoid any areas being worked on due to health and safety, these areas are rope off for you safety
