Golf 2020

Ladies and Gents It is almost Christmas again and who would have thought this time last year we would have just experienced the year we have , Our thought s must go out to all those who have lost a loved one due to Covid or anything else and not been able to be with them in their time of need , also we must say a huge thanks to all the key workers during the year and they are many not just the NHS who have done a great job throughout but to them all the bus drivers ,teachers, care workers ,fire brigade ,police and  all the shop workers and delivery driver's to whom we owe most of our summer .

Thank you all

As we now reach the end of 2020 the future is bright we as a club have managed to weather the storm and come out fairly safe and intact . we have boosted the junior section this year and have all sorts of plans for them at the start of the new season, we have attracted many new members over the past few months and have now reached a new  record high for membership numbers. All of this has not just happened it has been a long process and a lot of hard work by the committee ,and as we grow so must the committee ,so if you could spare a few hours here and there please get in touch and we will talk ( no previous skills required just to will to help). The new WHS could not have come in at a worse time but it is here and as of today I can report that all known problems and handicaps have been fixed and are working ,I must remind you that to get and maintain a handicap it is best to hand in all scores that you play and your handicap could be low or high if not enough cards are handed in ,sorry but that the way it is . Anyhow I would hereby like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all at Eyemouth Golf Club and a personal thank you to all the Committee for the hard work they have done this past year. looking  forward to 2021and taking this club to new heights.

Playing /Booking

As the current restrictions within Scotland change again then so do the rules of the course. This is not something we like doing but we must. As from now it is illegal for any golfer living in a tier 3 or higher area to travel to a lower tier area to play Golf under the new Scottish Law. It is also illegal  for any golfer from any area of England to travel to any part of Scotland in order to  play golf under Scottish Law. Any golfer found on the course in breach of these laws will be asked to leave without refund. We trust you understand that any visitors will be asked for proof of address even if signing on as a guest of a member. We would also like to remind all members that the hand gel around the club is for all members to use please do so. the locker rooms must also be kept locked at all times to prevent unauthorised person entering . I understand these rules seem to be getting tighter and tighter again but it is either this or complete closure. I also understand this latest  travel restrictions will affect some of our country members for that I'm really sorry but we must follow the laws set ,as we always have done. I thank you all again for you patience and resolve in this fight please stay safe

Club Championships update

how that 3 rounds of the qualifier's have been played members have a better idea of where they stand for making the cut  for some it could be a case of getting back out tomorrow and improving their score or just sit back and tame it easy whatever it is this year we have  have been  record turnout and i would like to thank you all for the support shown . the list of the category's and standings have been posted in the locker room foyer ready for start of play in the last qualifiers, and also for the Neale cup can you get close to Chris Reid's score today or will he drop it all tomorrow   good luck to all in tomorrow's double header

All members are reminded that from to day it is law to wear a face mask or covering when entering any shop in Scotland this includes the pro shop  anyone  not wearing a mask /covering will not be granted access to the shop  .thank you

More News Updates

Dear Member As another week passes and another announcement is made i now write to you all with the updates and please read to the end.   Toilets   As of Monday 6th July you will now be able to access the toilets within the club house During shop hours the toilet used for this purpose will be the disabled toilet at the end of the corridor the reason for this is quite simply control and ease of cleaning ,The toilets will be one in and one out and there will be a hand sanitising station at the bottom of the stairs for use before and after, plus the hot water and soap inside. I would urge you all if you are going to use this venue please use all the available stations to there full use, the other thing is we must record any one entering the premise so please con firm with the pro shop that you intend to enter thank you. Bunkers We plan to have the bunkers back in play this week in order to prepare for the club championship later this month . local rules for the bunkers are as follows. we would ask you to try and smooth the sand out as best as you can with your foot or if you wish a club. If your ball ends up in a huge footprint you may have relief within 6 inches at no penalty. Club Championships All members are reminded that the first round of qualifier's will take place later this month with the gents being the Davidson Cup as round 1 , the ladies TBC The format will be as in previous years. Best two scores from four rounds and the top eight move into the match play phase .we hope for a good turnout this year as everyone is keen to get back to normal. Handicaps All members are reminded that that in order to take part in a club competition you must have a valid competition handicap, that is to say 3 qualifier's played and recorded within the past 12 months however due to the lack of game time this year some members are close to their expiry date as far as handicaps go . I would urge you all to check just when your personal competition handicap expires as it may be sooner than you think .Call Michael at the Pro Shop for any information on your handicaps or in fact dates . Face Masks In line with the current Scottish Government guidelines everyone entering a shop within Scotland will have to wear a face mask and our Pro Shop is not immune to this rule in fact you will also be asked to wear a face mask when using the toilets. Please if you intend to enter any building from Thursday onwards we require you to wear a mask at all times. why not grab a face mask this week and shove it into your golf bag then you have no worries ,we as a club cannot supply masks so you must bring your own thanks for your understanding. Other rules All previous rules and guidelines still apply. When and in fact if they change i will update you all as soon as possible. I thank you all for taking the time to read this and hope it has been of some use to you all as we all edge closer to normal ,we can continue to follow the rules and guidelines provided for us in order that we may all stay safe as we try to go our best for you the members Many Thanks Stephen Mcaleese

Competitive Golf Returns

As we have now all had a game or two to shake of the cobwebs and loosen up some unused muscles, We intent to return competitive golf to the greens at Eyemouth this weekend .We intend to run the June Medal on Sunday 7th 2020 There will be all the rules in place that we have all learned this week and as far as the competition goes ther are a few changes to the normal as well.
  1. One person only marks the score card no second signature required .
  2. Correct money placed in a bowl by the Pro Shop door.
  3. Do not hand score card into the shop take a photo of it and email it to Michael for processing.
  4.  Find your own playing partner as per current guidelines and book a tee before travel.
  5.  Any cards/ scores not received by end of day will be counted as NR and recorded as such on the system.
  6. All the above rules plus those already in place around the course comply with the current R&A guidelines and rule changes for the Covid 19 and as such will be qualifier's for your handicaps.

Please note that this is a trail before we make a decision on the rest of the season and requires a certain amount of trust between all parties concerned, if it works we hope to open the rest of the season up if not we will have to rethink how and when we can do competitions again.

Thank you and good luck

Golf Returns

Dear Members I would like to thank you all for your understanding and support during the past 10 weeks or so without you we would no longer have a club. as many of you are already aware the Scottish government has given a date when we can reopen our course and the list of terms and conditions has been received. most of the stuff is the same as before no touching the flags, other players balls or clubs etc also no locker rooms or toilets will be available during this phase. the main thing is as follows and this must be enforced as it will be required for the government's contact and trace phase moving forward.   All golfers must be booked for a Tee slot before starting travel  and must only play with 1 other household at most 3 and 4 balls will be permitted but must only contain persons from no more than 2 houses.   All members will be getting an email shortly with more details . please please follow all rules or you will be asked to leave regardless of membership status. many thanks

COVID-19 Update

Despite most of us following the rules as laid out by the Government over the past few weeks it appears that the spread of this Virus is much faster that was first thought, And  to this end the Prime Minster last night forced the whole country into state of lockdown, this has meant a life changing routine for most of us at least short term . This now means that all aspects of golf have been placed on hold until the all clear is given hopefully it will not be to long but at this stage we just do not know. Our green keepers are still working in order to maintain the course ready for our return please if you are walking around that way do not stop them and keep a safe distance . All i  as your Captain can do is to ask you all to stay home and follow the advice given and hopefully we will all meet again very soon on the course . thank you all and Stay Safe  Wash Wash and Wash a bit more

Covid-19 (coronavirus)

Members of Eyemouth GC we urge you to take note of the following actions taken. As we all face the uncertain times ahead we have taken some action in and around the Course and Club House some of these actions include.
  • The closure of the locker rooms as of Mon  23rd March.
  • All bunkers are GUR and rakes have been removed.
  • Flags must be left in at all times.
  • Ball cleaners have been closed.
  • Bins will remain in place and we urge you to use them without touching them.
  • Mark only your own scorecard's.
  • All face to face meeting for club business have been suspended until further notice.
  • The regeneration of the juniors section has been placed on hold as have the lessons.
  •  the pro shop will for now continue as normal however if you could avoid useing cash that would help and also limit the numbers in the shop at any given time .
  • do not shake hands after the game avoid contact.
Please note that this may not yet be the limit of our actions and there may still be more to come as we review daily during this most difficult time for us all. We thank you all for your understanding and hope to see your continued support has we work our way through this as a club . Please i would urge you all to stay safe and avoid contact with others and keep a safe distance.

Thank You
