Competitive Golf Returns

As we have now all had a game or two to shake of the cobwebs and loosen up some unused muscles, We intent to return competitive golf to the greens at Eyemouth this weekend .We intend to run the June Medal on Sunday 7th 2020

There will be all the rules in place that we have all learned this week and as far as the competition goes ther are a few changes to the normal as well.

  1. One person only marks the score card no second signature required .
  2. Correct money placed in a bowl by the Pro Shop door.
  3. Do not hand score card into the shop take a photo of it and email it to Michael for processing.
  4.  Find your own playing partner as per current guidelines and book a tee before travel.
  5.  Any cards/ scores not received by end of day will be counted as NR and recorded as such on the system.
  6. All the above rules plus those already in place around the course comply with the current R&A guidelines and rule changes for the Covid 19 and as such will be qualifier’s for your handicaps.

Please note that this is a trail before we make a decision on the rest of the season and requires a certain amount of trust between all parties concerned, if it works we hope to open the rest of the season up if not we will have to rethink how and when we can do competitions again.

Thank you and good luck

Golf Returns

Dear Members

I would like to thank you all for your understanding and support during the past 10 weeks or so without you we would no longer have a club.

as many of you are already aware the Scottish government has given a date when we can reopen our course and the list of terms and conditions has been received.

most of the stuff is the same as before no touching the flags, other players balls or clubs etc also no locker rooms or toilets will be available during this phase. the main thing is as follows and this must be enforced as it will be required for the government’s contact and trace phase moving forward.

All golfers must be booked for a Tee slot before starting travel  and must only play with 1 other household at most 3 and 4 balls will be permitted but must only contain persons from no more than 2 houses.

All members will be getting an email shortly with more details .

please please follow all rules or you will be asked to leave regardless of membership status.

many thanks

COVID-19 Update

Despite most of us following the rules as laid out by the Government over the past few weeks it appears that the spread of this Virus is much faster that was first thought, And  to this end the Prime Minster last night forced the whole country into state of lockdown, this has meant a life changing routine for most of us at least short term .

This now means that all aspects of golf have been placed on hold until the all clear is given hopefully it will not be to long but at this stage we just do not know.

Our green keepers are still working in order to maintain the course ready for our return please if you are walking around that way do not stop them and keep a safe distance .

All i  as your Captain can do is to ask you all to stay home and follow the advice given and hopefully we will all meet again very soon on the course .

thank you all

and Stay Safe  Wash Wash and Wash a bit more

Covid-19 (coronavirus)

Members of Eyemouth GC we urge you to take note of the following actions taken.

As we all face the uncertain times ahead we have taken some action in and around the Course and Club House

some of these actions include.

  • The closure of the locker rooms as of Mon  23rd March.
  • All bunkers are GUR and rakes have been removed.
  • Flags must be left in at all times.
  • Ball cleaners have been closed.
  • Bins will remain in place and we urge you to use them without touching them.
  • Mark only your own scorecard’s.
  • All face to face meeting for club business have been suspended until further notice.
  • The regeneration of the juniors section has been placed on hold as have the lessons.
  •  the pro shop will for now continue as normal however if you could avoid useing cash that would help and also limit the numbers in the shop at any given time .
  • do not shake hands after the game avoid contact.

Please note that this may not yet be the limit of our actions and there may still be more to come as we review daily during this most difficult time for us all.

We thank you all for your understanding and hope to see your continued support has we work our way through this as a club .

Please i would urge you all to stay safe and avoid contact with others and keep a safe distance.

Thank You

Stephen Mcaleese

Club Captain

All members should be aware of the covid-19 and the issues involved with it, we are keeping a close eye on the guidelines being issued by all involved bodies and as of Noon to-day 13th March 2020we have this. We know its not great news but its all we have just now thanks

Golf Industry Guidelines to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

In these difficult times it is important to highlight the health benefits of golf as a sport that allows players to exercise outdoor in the fresh air where the risk of contracting COVID-19 is low.
All golf clubs should aim to keep their members and staff safe and well. This is a very fluid situation and we ask clubs to monitor the latest advice regularly.

Club Competitions

Just a quick reminder that all club competitions are now back to being Qualifying events this year this will also include the Wednesday Morning Stableford, Saturday morning Stableford and all Medals , cups and trophies .

Now finally after the long hard winter you can start to get your handicaps moving again for the 2020 season.

GOOD LUCK to all.

Captains Charity for 2020

The list of worthy causes is endless and this is why it has taken so long to chose this year.

I have at last make up my mind and I’m pleased to inform you all that I have chosen

Prostate Cancer as the Captains Charity for 2020.

I trust you will all be supportive and honest when you default at the Captains Charity hole TBC

There will also be pin badges around the clubhouse for you to purchase/wear and show your support.

Many thanks

WHS 2020
As we have been trialling this system now for a few months and most involved are now capable in the operation of it , we can conclude that the first phase of testing is now over and this is why we pose the above question.
Members of Eyemouth Golf Club can find out first hand from the people in the know” Scottish Golf.”
We are hosting a informal evening with some of the officers of Scottish Golf to help explain where we need to go next, as the date for the new WHS systems draws closer we need to prepare for all that comes with it.
During the evening there will be a short introduction to the new phone apps and booking systems and how they will work.
Following on we will help all attending on the evening sign up to the app if they wish
We will then run a dummy competition for all present to enter and scores, during which members of Scottish golf will be walking around checking on all and helping if required
After everyone is happy will follow an open questions session about the systems.
As a member of Eyemouth Golf Club you are welcome to attend this Free session please be aware that as these guys have to do this with every club in Scotland this will be a one of event and after this you will have to teach yourself or get help from others.
After this event we plan to use the new system for all golf bookings and competitions, scores, results etc
We hope you can join us in this new venture in golf on
FRIDAY 13th MARCH 2020 @7pm

Membership offer Extended

Eyemouth Golf Club  have desided that due to the popularity of the 15 months for the price of 12 over the past few months that we would continue this offer for a further three months for all new members.

we hope this may encourage a few more new members to come and enjoys the challenge that we all love.

Membership Price Reduction

Yes in the current market members are hard to come by and it is the members that keep the club growing ,

To this aim we the Committee are set to revive the Juniors section over the coming summer, starting in March with some school kids coming along for free coaching lessons.

To help the kids who maybe have not considered golf due to the cost we are reducing the £45.oo fee for Secondary school kids to a £3.oo fee to cover the insurance cost involved.

many of you have asked how can i help ? easy as members you can help if you see any kids out on the course please understand and perhaps stop for a minute and offer some advice on there swing etc.

We are also hoping to offer some free equipment to loan for a nominal fee yet to be set.

We will get the kids out on the course and the encouragement and response from you the members will help keep them with us for life , please remember the future of this club is not with us the Committee or the Members but with the kids who are not yet playing Golf as a sport.
