A great night at the Clubhouse. Thanks to all those who sponsored a race, bought a horse and especially those who turned up on the night for without you the night would not have been such a success. Picnics, classy looking ladies, ownership of horses, Tote betting and no skill required to win, (which is probably why most people won something!!). Valuable funds raised for the Club which will be appreciated by all those who did not attend.
Wow. 260 golfers played in the Eyemouth Winter Festival week-end over Sat 15 March (Stableford) and Sunday 16 March (Medal) when Eyemouth really showed its teeth. Get this, only one golfer played to par over the whole week-end. Tom Gillie in the Stableford on Saturday had 36 points. Early start and great result. All the rest were blown away. Whilst the course was in great condition and attracted many compliments the wind was really fierce and tested everyone to the utmost. Mark Collin the Eyemouth Club Champion came out tops with the best Scratch score on each day but even he off +1 could only manage a gross 78 on Sunday. A true test of golf and in particular coping with the elements. Many thanks to all who entered and well done to all who completed their rounds, an achievement in itself. A great and successful week-end. Please come back next year and try again.
We are delighted to announce that we have teamed up with ClubV1 and introduced new software to run Eyemouth Golf Club. This impressive package will allow us to organise our Membership data, our Club Competitions, our Members CONGU Handicaps as well as interfacing with the SGU (Scottish Golf Union) CDH (Central Database of Handicaps) system. Look out in the next few weeks for the Touch Screen which will be sited in the Lobby. You will be able to enter Competitions well before the event, sign in on the day and enter your own Scores after each round. Look for the Competition Leader board on the Touch Screen in the lobby and also on the TV is the Snug. Shortly after these go live you will be able to log on to 'How Did I do' online and see the leader board from home.
Eyemouth Golf Club is installing New Tee signs. Members and visitors will see big changes over the next few weeks as we install a new set of Tee Signs. Made from high quality materials each sign will depict a picture of the hole including yardages from each of the White, Red, Yellow and Blue Tees along with the traditional Par, Stroke Index information etc. Each sign will also carry the name of a Sponsor in a prominent position. To find out more about sponsorship and the many benefits this brings please contact our partner, Premier Golf Signs Ltd, E: firstname.lastname@example.org, T: 01252 549149. Part of the continuous improvement we are making to enhance the golfers experience at Eyemouth Golf Club.
The Captain's Charity for 2014 will be the Berwickshire Branch of Riding For the Disabled (RDA). This fantastic charity is run entirely by volunteers. Annual running costs amount to approximately £25,000. The main expenses are looking after the horses , maintaining the equipment and riding facility, insurance and utility bills. The Group relies solely on fund-raising and donations and receives no statutory funding. You will find various ways of contributing to the Berwickshire RDA around the golf club not least the Captain's Charity Bunker to the right/front of the 18th Green. If you end up in this bunker you are invited to donate £0.50 to the 'Jar on the Bar'.
